Although I haven’t met Marie in person yet (she is a friend of a friend) I was psyched when she so kindly offered to write a guest post for me! She has a hilarious blog herself. After you read her guest post, hop on over to her site for a good laugh!
Hi everyone, I’m Marie from Quarterlife Quandary. I’m so excited to do a guest post for Blog is the New Black! When trying to figure out what to write for my guest post, I knew I couldn’t do a recipe. Liz has made so many mouth-watering things on here, there’s no way I could stand up to them (especially that Enchilada Lasagna. Holy yum!) *Edited by Liz to add, I read that old post and burst out laughing at the “beard” comment. Ahahaha!*
But I do want to talk about something very near and dear to my heart. Something I stay up at night dreaming about. Something that fills my heart with such wonder and joy…
frozen yogurt.
Oh man do I love me some fro yo.
I like to consider myself somewhat of a frozen yogurt connoisseur. I’ve tested, tasted, and sampled quite a large variety of different flavors with a myriad of different toppings. Chocolate chips, strawberries, waffle cones…Hey, it’s all in the name of research, right?
This past week, though, I made the pilgrimage to the mecca: Pinkberry. ![]()
Pinkberry is the original gangster of the frozen yogurt world. All other places are just imitations of this famous faux ice cream behemoth. When I heard a new location had popped up on Newbury Street in downtown Boston, I bee-lined my way there to partake in it’s tasty pleasure. ![]()
After much deliberation, I opted for a strange, but delicious combination: mango and coconut swirl with fresh strawberries, mangos, and white chocolate chips.
Oh. My. Delicious. I died over and over again. Not only was this frozen yogurt amazing, the perfect amount of sweet and tart, but toppings are….get ready for it….UNLIMITED. Yes. UNLIMITED. As in, you can load up on all the cheesecake bites, kiwi pieces, blueberry crumble goodness you want without worrying about the price. Now that is my kind of place.
f it were socially acceptable, I would probably pitch a tent right on the sidewalk outside Pinkberry and start building a shrine of my empty fro yo containers to pay homage to them.
But since my friends, family, and fiancé would probably frown upon me living in a cardboard box, I’ll have to be satisfied with weekly trips. Although, on the plus side, now I can count all the walks to get some as my daily cardio. Right?

Drop her a line if you are interested in donating something for the auction!

Gotta love her style of writing…I just checked out her blog and I love it!
Here in Pittsburgh we are just now catching on to the frozen yogurt trend. Last summer we got a Razzy Fresh and just a few months ago we got a Tutti Frutti (which is waaaay better than Razzy Fresh.) I am so addicted.
Great guest post!
Oh yea, walks to Pinkberry count as cardio for sure! Better than a walk to McD’s! Your fro-yo combination sounds palate pleasing
@Miss Anthropologist- thanks for the nice words!
@Amy at TheSceneFromMe- so very true!!!!
They put a Pinkberry in Derby and I’ve yet to try it- imagine?!
How have I never had pinkberry???
Yum! I love Pinkberry even in the winter. So delicious!
Central Texas is a little behind on all things trendy so no amazing frozen yogurt shops for us
For now I’ll just stare at your wonderful creation!
Hello, my name is Renee, and I am a FroYo addict. I do have to admit though, I completely DISlike Pinkberry. It is my least favorite of all the FroYos. If you are ever in the Boston area, check out Berryline, you will die just a little with each bite! And by die I mean it in the good “and go to heaven” way…
Renee, I am OBSESSED with Berryline!!!!! However, it was closed for renovations my entire time in the States for the holidays. I was so so sad. It better be back and ready to go when I come to visit for the marathon in April.
There’s a Pinkberry on Newbury?!?! This is what moving out to the ‘burbs has done to me… I’m totally out of the loop when it comes to new dining establishments in the city. I might have to take a trip in to the city this weekend for some fro yo!
Is that the Pinkberry at the HardRock in downtown SD?? Yummy! Your blog is great!
Frozen Yogurt is very popular here and there seems to be new stores opening all the time. Pinkberry did open here but at the airport, which is great if you are traveling but not so great if you aren’t. Hopefully they will consider opening at other venues too.
I soooo wish we has Pinkberry in the UK! X
Fro Yo is my favorite… I make it at home as often as I can because we go through it like it’s water.
I’m obsessed with frozen yogurt. I need a place with unlimited toppings near me though…I’d save so much money!
I love frozen yogurt! I wish we had more frozen yogurt places in Canada. Here we mainly have Yogen Fruz which is very good.
I haven’t had Pinkberry, but have tried a few other similar places. There’s like this (color)(fruit) trend with yogurt place names: Pinkberry, Red Mango, OrangeCup (ok, not quite)…I guess that’s it. Now I’m hungry!
